Q. The Third Time is a sequel story to the character Jack from The Beach House. Did you always intend to write a sequel or sequels to your first book?
A. I hadn't decided either way. It wasn't a deliberate plan, but I didn't rule it out either. In saying that, though, I did begin to get the idea for this story not long after finishing The Beach House.
Q. Was it fun to revisit characters from a previous book?
A. Yes, definitely. It was great to develop the characters of both Jack and Danny further, especially now that Danny is a teenager and their relationship has evolved in a new direction.

Q. Would you say that The Third Time is a different genre to your other books, given that it has a legal theme?
A. That's a good question and I'm not totally sure of the answer. Yes, it could be considered a legal drama, but my idea was always to create a story about relationships - father/son, friends and the whole concept of biological and other types of family. With Jack being a lawyer and Danny's father having criminal links it was an opportunity to combine both elements and hopefully still have the same feel as my previous books.
Q. This is your first full length novel that hasn't involved stories within a story. Is there one format you prefer over the other?
A. Not really, no. It was a different experience having just one thread to work with, but I don't dislike working with different threads either. I'm open to writing further books in either format.
Q. So, will there be more sequel stories to The Beach House or more featuring Jack and Danny?
A. Good question! At this time I don't have any in mind, but I am definitely open to further sequels and more Jack/Danny stories. Watch this space.
