Elly Cartwright has nothing more on her mind that a quiet night in away from the Melbourne chill when the shocking murder of her elderly neighbour shatters her world completely. Working as a technical writer for a software company she doesn't consider herself the intended target until the murder of a colleague a short time later. Suddenly Elly realises she is the common denominator and that she must immediately take steps to keep herself safe.
Fleeing to Sydney under a different name, Elly goes into stealth mode, making sure her tracks are covered and always watching her back. At first things seem safer there, but soon Elly realises she is still in danger and that she must uncover the reason she has a target on her back.

It was a nice change to read a thriller with a middle aged woman as the heroine. I think Elly's maturity and common sense came through as she made careful, calculated decisions rather than the foolish, rash ones that often happen in thrillers. The pace in No Safe Place is fast but not relentless, although it does build as the story progresses. It was intriguing following Elly's journey as she navigated her way through a situation she really didn't understand but still did her best to solve.
I really enjoyed No Safe Place and was caught up in the mystery and various threads that presented themselves as the story moved towards its conclusion. It certainly kept me turning the pages right until the end.
